This Is The Way. One thing i don't like, unless I'm just missing the option somewhere, is that you have to go through the File Explorer app and then pick what app to use to open the File, instead of just being able to access your downloaded media straight from the app you want to use.

If it isn't visible under Apps Installed , have you checked the Ready to install section or searching for it in the Microsoft Store?

Another alternative app that may help you out is the VLC app which you should be able to find in the Microsoft Store if you don't already have it installed. File Exployer isn't in Ready to Install and looks to have been removed from the store.

IE now only lets me save to Onedrive. I'm unable to save to default local storage or to an external device. The File Explorer app on XBox comes preinstalled and isn't updated through the store. It wasn't removed from the store; it was never there in the first place. I don't know of any supported way to uninstall it.
